I make wort oil – Preparation steps:
- Flower Gathering: Gather fresh sedum flowers during its flowering season, which is usually in June and July. Ideally, collection should be done in the early hours of the morning and not when it is humid.
- Place in a container: Fill a clean glass vase with the fresh flowers up to 3/4 of its height.
- Adding Oil: Pour the olive oil or vegetable oil of your choice into the jar until the flowers are completely covered. Leave about 2-3cm of space at the top to allow room for any expansion of the oil.
- Extraction: Close the jar tightly and place it in a spot for 4-6 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to improve the extraction of the active ingredients into the oil.
- Straining: After extraction, strain the oil through a clean cheesecloth or coffee filter to remove the flowers and any residue.
- Storage: Transfer oil to a clean, dark glass bottle to protect from light, which can shorten its shelf life. Store it in a cool, dark place.
