Arctostaphylos uva-ursi is an evergreen shrub with small hard leaves and red fruit.

Arctophytus is a herbal diuretic, treats cystitis and urinary lithiasis. It also has an antiseptic and astringent effect on mucous membranes of the urinary tract. It is especially used when there is sand in the kidney or bladder and has been used to improve nighttime urination.
