Eucalyptus is a tree. The dried leaves and its oil are used in medicine. There are more than 400 different species of Eucalyptus. In Greece we find the species Eucalyptus globulus. Eucalyptus leaves are traditionally used in infections, fevers, stomach upsets and cough relief.
Eucalyptus oil should NOT be taken orally or applied to the skin as is. It must first be diluted. Diluted eucalyptus oil is applied directly to the skin for pain and swelling of the mucous membranes of the respiratory system, joint pain and nasal congestion.
