Symphytum officinale
A perennial grass with its healing action as a herb to be healing, astringent, softening and exuberant.
It is mainly used for the rapid treatment of fractures as it contains allantoin, a substance that accelerates the natural renewal of bone and body cells.
In external use, its leaves and root (hot poultice) are used in sprains, bruises, dislocations, knuckles, ulcers, amputations and rheumatism.
With internal use, the herb has therapeutic properties in bronchitis, irritating cough, diarrhea, in the treatment of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and ulcerative colitis.
